Meet Our Family

Kate is one of our family dentists

Dr Katherine Aitken began her career in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Dental Officer.

She has always been passionate about using her skills and knowledge to help others, with her dedication even taking her to remote areas of Australia to provide care to Indigenous communities and overseas to volunteer on a number of humanitarian aid projects.

Kate graduated Dentistry at the University of Sydney in 2008 with Honours. She has an additional Science degree and has special interests in early childhood development and oral surgery, having completed extensive further studies in these areas. Kate is also a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

Since 2009, Kate has worked in private practices in both Sydney and Newcastle. She strives to deliver quality preventative dentistry in a compassionate and gentle way and prides herself on being able to make even the most anxious patients feel at ease.

When she’s not creating confident smiles at Dental House Gladesville, you can find Kate spending time with her family and friends. She loves her sport too and is often on the golf course. She has played competitive hockey and softball too – the reason behind her appreciation for a good quality mouthguard!

Amy is one of our family dentists

Dr Amy Dempster graduated Dentistry at the University of Sydney in 2008 with Honours. She has an additional Science degree and has a special interest in implant dentistry. She is passionate about preventative care and making dental visits for kids fun and enjoyable, having two school-aged children herself.

After graduation she spent four years in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Dental Officer. She then worked in private clinics in Brisbane and Sydney, including practices in Penrith, Wahroonga and Gladesville.

Amy is a big believer in working in partnership with patients. She is committed to using her skills to ensure patients are involved in the process, feel comfortable, well-informed and at ease, particularly young patients who may feel unsure or scared of the dentist.

When she’s not creating confident smiles at Dental House Gladesville, you can find Amy enjoying the great outdoors with her kids. She loves a good hike and camping trip.

Karina is one of our family dentists

Dr Karina Carew became a dentist because she wanted to provide healthcare for people in a hands-on way. She also loved her childhood experiences at the dentist and wanted to be in a position to deliver this positivity to others.

After graduating Dentistry from the University of Sydney in 2009, Karina went on to join the Royal Australian Navy as a Dental Officer. In this role, Karina enjoyed the challenge of performing dental procedures for servicemen and women at sea and ashore which has also included humanitarian missions overseas.

With a keen interest in Oral Surgery, Karina completed a Graduate Diploma in Surgical Dentistry from the University of Sydney in 2016.

Karina is passionate about educating her patients about their oral health so together they can make the best decisions for their care. She prides herself on her compassion, communication and attention to detail and always strives to make her patients feel comfortable, confident and relaxed.

When she’s not creating confident smiles at Dental House Gladesville, Karina is cutting her teeth as a new mum to her son and is relishing the challenges of parenthood with her husband. She has a love for the ocean, nature and enjoys exploring new bush walks and picnic spots with her family.

Abi is one of our family dentists

Dr Abirami Parameswaran graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide. Following graduation, Abi moved to Taree in the beautiful Mid North Coast where she gained an extensive amount of experience in a wide range of treatments.

After spending this time away from home, Abi is excited to be returning to Sydney. She is passionate about working together with patients through education, empowering them to achieve great oral health and have a confident smile. With a keen interest in continuing her own dental education, Abi also completed further studies to become a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Abi constantly strives to provide quality care and develop meaningful, long-lasting relationships with her patients. She particularly enjoys treating children and making their visits entertaining and positive in order to help nurture a new generation of patients who are not afraid of the dentist.

When she’s not creating confident smiles at Dental House Gladesville, you can find Abi expanding her gastronomic experience by trying out new restaurants in Sydney with her family and friends, travelling to new cities and making new memories.

Brooke is our oral health therapist

Brooke graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy (Adult Scope). This gives her the skills to perform comprehensive examinations, hygiene treatments and restorative treatments on adults as well as an array of treatments for child patients.

Brooke provides treatments that are preventative in nature and aims to equip patients with the skills to reduce their chance of oral diseases before they occur.

Brooke has worked as a dental receptionist and assistant before taking her passion for oral health further and obtaining her degree. She has worked overseas on a clinical placement treating children in Cambodian schools around Phnom Penh and some of her other placements include Nepean, Bathurst, Wyong and Cessnock local health districts.

Brooke’s first language is Australian Sign Language (Auslan). This allows her to treat the deaf and hard of hearing communities fluently. Brooke’s passion is to provide accessible information in Auslan to ensure that her patients have equal opportunity for dental health to that of the general population. She hopes to bridge the gap where possible and strive to ensure a high standard of care to every individual she treats.

When Brooke isn’t in the clinic, she enjoys playing netball, loves a sunny day at the markets and enjoys spending time with her family.

Kylie is our friendly face

Kylie is the friendly face of Dental House Gladesville. She makes everything run smoothly, leaving Kate and Amy to concentrate on patient-care and clinical work.

With over 15 years business and finance management experience and a Bachelor of Accounting behind her, she is the visionary behind Dental House Gladesville and can’t wait to make sure you feel welcome in our Home.

Kylie is a mother of two young children also and it is because of this that she understands the anxiety that can come up when attending the dentist – for parents and children. That is why her first priority is care. This means ensuring you and your family have easy access to expert dental care. It also means a promise to do everything she can to make you and your family feel at ease.
